The view over the outfield
The ballpark faces north across the harbor, which puts the entire Lower Manhattan skyline directly behind the outfield wall, with the Statue of Liberty off to the left.
It is, by common agreement, one of the best views from any ballpark in the United States — and you can get in for less than the cost of a cinema ticket.
An evening game as the sun goes down behind the skyline is the single best-value night out in New York City.
What you're watching
The Staten Island FerryHawks play in the Atlantic League, an independent professional league that is not affiliated with a Major League club.
The standard is genuinely professional — the Atlantic League is full of players on the way up and on the way back — and it's often used by MLB to trial rule changes.
What you get is real baseball, cheap tickets, short queues and a ballpark small enough that every seat is a good one.
Make it the whole trip
The obvious evening: free ferry over with the sunset on the way, game at the ballpark, free ferry back with the skyline lit up.
That is roughly four hours, costs the price of one cheap ticket, and beats most things in Manhattan at ten times the price.
Check the schedule — it's a summer season and they don't play every night.
Getting there
Staten Island Ferry to St. George, then walk two minutes. That's the whole journey — the ballpark is immediately west of the terminal.
About 35 minutes door to door from Lower Manhattan, and the ferry half of it is free.
Getting around once you're there
Modern ballpark with step-free access, lifts and accessible seating throughout. The ferry terminals are accessible and the walk is flat and short.
